What his sensei actually did was take him from his village and reside him in Iwagakure. His sensei then placed him in Akatsuki, Which so happenly he himself happen to be the leader of, at the age of 13. He then became a rogue Ninja Unwillingly, now curse marked also by his sensei. His Sensei tricked him into thinking he was a good person, to join him as a rogue ninja. Knowing he is a shy person.
